Child Care Exclusion Guidelines
DISEASE RESTRICTION OF DACYARE ATTENDANCE
Pink Eye On antibiotic drops for 24 hours from a physician before returning to daycare. If not pink eye a note from a physician must be supplied before returning to daycare.
Strep Throat/ Sinus Infection On antibiotics for 24 hours from a physician and *temperature must be normal before returning to daycare.
Lice/Nits Excluded until lice are destroyed and nit free. Note from a physician that lice/nits are destroyed must be supplied before returning to daycare.
Scabies Treatment from a physician must be completed before returning to daycare.
Chicken Pox Exclude from daycare at least 7 days. All lesions must be crusted over to return.
Fifth’s Disease Treatment by a physician and *temperature is normal before returning to daycare.
Impetigo Treatment from a physician and all lesions are crusted over. *Temperature must be normal to return to daycare.
Measles Treatment from a physician, and rash completely gone. *Temperature must be normal to return to daycare.
Mumps Treatment from a physician and swelling has subsided completely. *Temperature must also be normal before returning to daycare.
Infectious Hepatitis Treatment by a physician and at least one week out of daycare. A physician note must be supplied stating that the child is not contagious any longer before returning to daycare.
Ring Worm Treatment by a physician. After treatment by a physician they must be out of daycare for at least 24 hours.
Whopping Cough Treatment from a physician and on antibiotic therapy for 5 days. *Temperature must be normal before returning to daycare.
NOTE:
* IF THE DAYCARE CENTER SUSPECTS ANY OF THE ABOVE DISEASES, YOUR CHILDCAN NOT COME BACK TO DAYCARE UNTIL SEEN BY A PHYSICIAN. IF SUSPECTED THAT THE CHILD HAS ONE OF THESE DISEASES WE DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK THAT YOU BRING US A PHYSICIAN’S WRITTEN NOTE THAT THE CHILD HAS BEEN SEEN AND THE DIAGNOSIS.
* WE ALSO HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK THAT IF THE CHILD IS DIAGNOSED WITH ONE OF THE ABOVE DISEASES THAT THEY BE SEEN BY A PHYSICIAN AGAIN AFTER
TREATMENT IS COMPLETED AND PROVIDE US WITH A WRITTEN NOTE THAT THE CHILD IS COMPLETELY OVER THE DISEASE.
ILLNESS RESTRICTION OF DAYCARE ATTENDANCE
**Vomiting Excluded from daycare for at least 24 hours after last bout of vomiting. *Temperature must be normal.
**Diarrhea Excluded from daycare for at least 24 hours from last bout of diarrhea. * Temperature must be normal. If it occurs at daycare the child will be sent home after 2nd bout of diarrhea.
**Fever *Excluded from daycare until temperature is normal.
*With all the above diseases and illnesses a child’s temperature must be below 101 degrees to attend daycare. This means that they must keep their temperature below 101 degrees without medication of any kind. The daycare will only administer medications such as Tylenol for a low grade temperature that is below 101 degrees without medication.
**An exception to the exclusions is when these symptoms appear because a child is teething, it is the day after an immunization, they are on an antibiotic, or they experiencing a food intolerance. In these situations the parent must be notified but as long as the child has a happy disposition they can stay at daycare and can be given medication such as Tylenol or Motrin to help with the symptoms.
IF A CHILD SHOWS THE BELOW SYMPTOMS THEY WILL BE SENT HOME
* Too ill to participate in daycare
* The child will not stop crying or is excessively irritable
* The child has difficulty breathing or is wheezing
* The child has a stomachache that will not improve
PARENTS: Please do not expect or ask us to care for a child if they are ill or have a disease. This includes a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. This policy is to protect all the children in the center and to improve our chances of not spreading the illness(es) or disease(s) around the center.
