Act of Contrition

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.

In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned

against you whom I should love above all things.

I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more,

and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.

In his name, my God, have mercy.

Math:

Saxon Publishers, Inc.

We study mathematics because it is an important part of our daily lives, and even more important in the adult world. Saxon math is set up in finding similar problems presented over and over again. Solving problems day after day is the secret to success. Most of the word problems are drawn from our daily experiences.

The goal for students is to learn and remember the foundational skills of Mathematics. We have a series of daily lessons, each of which is followed by a set of problems. The problem sets review everything that has been taught previously.

The sequence of lessons and the content of the problem sets have been carefully planned. We do not skip lessons or sets. each lesson is presented using examples to lead students through guided practice. All work is shown and errors corrected. Genuine learning with high level retention takes place with consistent effort.

Assessments take place about every five lessons. Students will make excellent progress if they are able to score 80% or better on these assessments. Brief speed drills are used to improve, recall, and increase problem solving speed and automate frequently needed skills.

Importance of having memorized the multiplication facts is of high priority at this grade level. The majority of the lessons in the second semester include these facts, when working with the lessons and problem sets.
